Brightling Sea was a theatre company created by Rabab Ghazoul which functioned as an open collaborative space.
In The Naming of the Storm four performance artists (including myself), a dancer and a sculptor disassembled Shakespeare's Tempest. This was in the time between the invasion of Afghanistan and the invasion of Iraq. How can you conjure a storm out of words? What is a monster? What is romantic love? The result was a collage which slipped in and out of theatrical conventions of time, space and representation.
